Rainy day at Calaway

 

We learned that if you go to an amusement park when its raining, we don't have to wait in any lines at the rides.  I also learned that I need to be more prepared for any kind of weather here in Calgary.  Geez, this summer has been cold.

 

This is my favorite pic of Anna and Ella.  Then look at Della the Amazing next to them.  Who's the fearless one?

 

Anna, Olivia and I all cried our eyes out on the log ride.  We are the biggest wimps ever!  Soren and Cambie went on it at least 6 or 7 times in a row because there was nobody else there.

Kids all had a blast.  I cried a few times because I should know better than to go on any rides at all.  Lesson learned for that day?  Go to amusement parks when its raining.

Starting Soccer

He wore me down.  I swore never to have another child in soccer after having to deal with Logan in it for 3 VERY LONG years. To our great surprise, Soren was awesome.  This Dunow kid actually has some real talent for the game.  I think its from thousands of hours playing FIFA.  Its a well known fact among everybody, that our family is not the most coordinated or athletic.  So I was a little worried he was going to go out on the field and get his butt kicked.  I know, I have so much confidence in my children.  

Soren played very hard all season and I'm so proud of his sportsmanship.

 I did find it hilarious that the giant rabbits would be out on the field while the boys were playing.

 I was sitting at one of the games and saw the flag flying.  Yup, still do a double take every time!

Even though the game were a pain in the butt to attend, we managed to have fun.  We froze to death at most of them, but had fun while freezing.

Soren is so excited to play next season.  Better get used to this whole soccer Mom thing.

Sunset sledding

There hasn't been an abundance of snow this year in Calgary.  I guess I can't complain, although I do love the snow.  Last week before dinner, we tried to get some sledding in. Before we even got to the hill, Soren took Anna down at the knees and they had a brawl.  Love it when my kids fight.

We have a fantastic view of COP and of the mountains.

Soren all bundled up.  It was cold and windy that evening.

 Jeff's kids slide down and he hauls the sleds up for them.  I love that my kids are old!  I just stand at the top of the hill and watch every climb up the hill over and over.  It would do me good to climb up that hill over and over!  

 Anna was singing "Do you want to build a snowman" to Ella.  Find it funny that their names are so similar to those in the movie.

A lot of snow balls thrown.  Anna got Cambie.  That's what started the brawl on the way to the hill.

This was so freaking cute!  Della wanted to hit that jump soooooo bad.  She literally got to the very top of it and stopped.  Don't ever say Della didn't finish something.  Those little feet came right down and she pushed herself over the tippy top. Boy was she proud of herself for hitting that gigantic hill.

As Jeff and I are some of the most brilliant parents out there, we put huge snowballs on the sleds and sent our kids down on them.  I don't know about Barb, but Troy would of been very proud.

It is of course one of the very safest ways to sled.

Safe.  Very safe.

Olivia crashed and was pinned by the snowball.  I was to busy laughing until Soren went and jumped on top of it, nearly busting her legs off.  I knew they weren't broken when she took off after him trying to beat him up.  Dang, I love nights like those.  It got even better when I went home because Troy had a hot dinner ready for us.

Evening ice skating

Been a while since I posted.  Grandparents to the Dunowbunch, I thought you would get a kick out of our lasted Canadian adventure.  

We we lucky to have moved into a neighbourhood with a lot of children.  Our kids love it.  There are always kids to play with.  

Our friends have put in an ice rink in their back yard.  Let's just hope we don't have any broken bones this winter!  Olivia's poor knees were black and blue this morning.
Seriously though, how much fun is this!  Thanks Jeff!

It's been a while since Anna was on ice.  The last time was at Blades back in New Mexico.  We've got to go get us all skates.  Can't wait to see you on the ice Honey!

 There was a lot of laughing, some tears, a ton of bruises and hot chocolate to around.  It's going to be a great winter.
